Wednesday, 07 July 2010 'Escape from Cobra Mountain' with Blackheart Events
Offering
3 different courses of 60km, 120km & 100miles, 'Escape from Cobra Mountain'
discovers all new MTB terrain in the beautiful Narooma region of the New South Wales
South Coast, taking you deep into rainforest gullies, and high over old logging
trails where bullocks once transported mine supplies between Wagonga Inlet and
the Tuross River, all in the shadows of the famous Mt. Dromedary. As much about
the journey as about the race, Escape from Cobra Mountain is exhilarating yet
gruelling, tranquil yet breathtaking, with amazingly grand yet undiscovered
riding trails.
Based
from the Pub Hill Farm on the western edge of Wagonga Inlet, all the action
will take place on the 5th of December, 2010. Names such as Mt. Misery Road,
Hell Hole Road, Rats Head and of course Cobra Mountain (which, by the way,
isn't the biggest mountain you'll see... it just had the best name) will become
synonymous with this great event, conjuring up the emotion of the experience
for weeks after the event has been run and won.
In
the words of event director Matt Koerber "This is my backyard!" Since
my grandfather worked the mines of the local region, these trails have proved a
test of stamina and perseverance to anyone choosing to travel them, whether for
work or play. Expect to be delighted and surprised by some of the best yet
undiscovered trails this region has to offer. It's time Australia had a
dedicated 100 miler, and this is the perfect region in which to lay down the
gauntlet to those that enjoy a challenge. The challenge awaits, are you up for
it?".
